I love hearing about other women’s passions and interests.
There is something motivating and inspiring about another momma, trying to impact the world, doing the best she can to make a difference.
Luckily, being a blogger means that I am often introduced to and impressed with some pretty amazing moms.
It keeps me going. It makes me feel like there is a way to help others, while still be primarily focused on the needs of my family.
Please know, I received books and compensation in exchange for this review. However, as always, all opinions expressed are 100% my own. I only recommend products or services that I feel are beneficial to my readers and my family
A Mother’s Passion for Reading to Children
I recently discovered the work of Soraya Diase, and was interested in learning more about her. She is a mom to two sons, and worked professionally as a lawyer and judge. Through her work, she developed a passion for the impact of literacy and reading, in the lives of children.
She formed a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the As the Stars of the Sky Foundation, Inc., and began writing quality children’s books.
In Soraya’s own words –
My profound interest is promoting literacy. My slogan is “Reading helps children achieve their divine destinies.” As a Christian, I believe that every child has a God-given destiny. From my own personal experiences as well as my professional experiences as a lawyer and former judge, I have seen how critical literacy is in a child’s life.
All the proceeds from the sale of my books go to As the Stars of the Sky Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit foundation, to promote the importance of literacy in a child’s life.
I love to read to children whenever and wherever I can. I read at Head Start Centers, elementary schools, clinics, and children’s parties.
Based on her impressive experience, I was happy to take a look at her children’s books on the history of our holidays.
Love Letters and Children’s Literacy

The Highlights of Reading Love Letters to your Children
- The books are warm and engaging. The tone is kind, reverent and at times, really funny.
- The illustrations are beautiful. These books are gorgeous and again, at times, funny. (The illustrations made my son laugh out loud.)
- There is genuine history throughout, and an emphasis on the Christian perspective associated with our holidays.
